Karl Ulbrich - Partner
Karl Ulbrich retired from the New Jersey State Police on July 1, 2012, after a successful and decorated 25 year career. During his career, he gained extensive expertise in the field of criminal investigations, interviewing and courtroom testimony while serving in State Police road stations, the prestigious Major Crime Unit, as a supervisory member of the Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team, and in the Official Corruption Bureau. He retired as an acting Lieutenant, supervising the Official Corruption South Unit, where he conducted and oversaw corruption related investigations occurring in the southern half of the state. He gained extensive experience in the investigation of offenses committed by public employees and elected officials and in the ultimate litigation of these cases. Upon retirement in 2012, he formed Ulbrich Associates, LLC. He has continued to successfully apply his investigative skills and his insight to the benefit of his clients in the private sector. His list of clients includes municipal governments, school boards, private companies, law firms, security firms, consulting firms and individuals.
William Scull - Partner
William Scull retired from the New Jersey State Police on January 1, 2016, after a successful and decorated 27 year career. During his career, Bill gained extensive expertise in the field of criminal investigations, interviewing and courtroom testimony while serving in State Police road stations, the prestigious Major Crime Unit, as a supervisory member of the Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team, and in the Office of Professional Standards. Bill retired as a Captain and the Executive Officer of the Office of Professional Standards, where he oversaw all administrative and criminal internal investigations involving sworn members of the New Jersey State Police. Bill was instrumental in establishing the current New Jersey State Police Internal Affairs policies and he teaches Internal Affairs Investigation Training and Interviewing for the New Jersey State Police to both new and experienced investigators.
William Gant - Senior Investigator
William Gant retired from the New Jersey State Police on December 1, 2019, after a very successful career. He brings with him a great depth of experience and investigative expertise, having served in various NJSP investigative units and also as a municipal police officer before joining the NJSP. Bill has served in both investigative and supervisory roles, and retired as a Lieutenant and the supervisor of the Special Investigations Unit in the Casino Gaming Bureau, where he oversaw strategic investigations and financial crimes investigations within the casino industry.
Gabriel Berkey - Investigator
Gabriel Berkey retired from the Cape May County, NJ Prosecutor’s Office in November 2022, following a very successful career as a county detective. He brings with him a broad range of knowledge and experience, having also served in the United States Coast Guard, as a special agent within the USCG Investigative Service, and as a deputy sheriff in North Carolina. During his 27-year career, Gabriel gained extensive experience in the investigation of criminal offenses and administrative matters, as well as the investigation of violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He has received extensive training and experience in interviewing and interrogation, law enforcement intelligence practices, surveillance, and law enforcement tactical operations.
Additionally, Gabriel has practical experience in emergency medical services, having worked as a nationally registered and NJ certified emergency medical technician.
Robert Coia - Investigator
Robert Coia retired from the New Jersey State Police on January 1, 2023, after a very successful career spanning more than 25 years. Bob spent more than 17 of those years serving as both a detective and supervisor in investigative assignments. He brings with him a great depth of knowledge and experience, having served in NJSP Road Stations and in the Special Investigations Unit, where he investigated high profile narcotics, guns and fraud cases. Bob retired as a Lieutenant supervising the NJSP Traffic Office for Southern New Jersey and was a member of the Pursuit Review Board.
