Making low carb simple
Instructions
Crack the eggs into a small bowl and use a fork to whisk them together with some salt and pepper.
Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Watch carefully — the butter shouldn't turn brown!
Pour the eggs into the skillet and stir for 1–2 minutes, until they are creamy and cooked just the way you like them. Remember that the eggs will still be cooking even after you've put them on your plate.

Unfortunately not as honey is too high in sugar/carbohydrates. You can see our guide to sweeteners here - https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/sweeteners

Is there any reason that Greek yogurt is not included as a breakfast alternartive? I make my own Greek yogurt from 3.25% milk and it is delicious. I eat up to half a litre a day sometimes straight; sometimes with a few berries sprinkled on top. As far as I know, it is a keto food. So why is it not recommended here? Too many carbs?
I tried adding powdered skim milk to make the yogurt thicker, which is does, but was horrified to discover that skim milk power is 46% lactose! The yogurt comes out a bit sweet so i've quit doing that. I tried adding heavy cream to the recipe and the yogurt comes out too runny. Whole milk alone is best.
Any info you could give on Greek yogurt would be great. I am travelling to Greece this fall and I plan to eat loads of Greek yogurt, if it is keto.

Also, is Greek yogurt too high in protein? Should I be eating cream cheese instead? (Not the same!)

Montreal, QuebecGreek yogurt tends to be higher carb and protein without much fat. If you can find a European/Bulgarian style yogurt it tends to have better macro ratios. If you are making yogurt, try using heavy cream instead of skim milk.

You can ask your pharmacist to help you find digestive enzymes if the fats are a problem for you.

You would need to check the carb count. The carbs in it come from sugar, so even if they are low, it could still adversely affect blood sugar.

I see salmon, bacon etc. as additional options for breakfast, what about sausage. I have a butcher here who makes his own pork sausage without a lot of additives?

As long as he is not adding sugar, sausage is a great breakfast option.

We do not have a two week egg challenge. Our free two week challenge is located at this link and is an excellent way to get started with keto.

If your blood sugar drops too low, it is important to break the fast. Low blood sugar is potentially dangerous.

Hi
The recipes shown have servings sizes based on per person without taking into account weight of people doing it . Does this mean that my serving size is the same as someone that weighs more or less than than me. Ie my wife and I are doing this together and don’t weight the same so should our portion sizes be the same?Reply: #119

If you find you're naturally hungry for more than one serving, you can make and eat more (keeping an eye on carb count!). If your wife is naturally hungry for less than a serving, that's OK as well.

I like to add 1 tbsp. of heavy cream to my scrambled eggs and fry them in butter than I top them with cheese. Is this still keto friendly ?

Yes, heavy cream can definitely be part of a good keto diet. It also helps make fluffier scrambled eggs!

Am I allowed to eat fruit on a keto diat?
And I am still confused how one can take off weight when eating heavy creme with cheese and bacon like our recipe from today- Alfredo creme chicken? It was amazingly delicious but that is a lot of calories to take off weight or not?Reply: #124

It was amazingly delicious but that is a lot of calories to take off weight or not? With keto, it has to do with keeping the carbs low, not the calories! I am going to provide a couple of links where you can read in more detail.

Yes Tawny. I have to tone it done a bit. I can eat butter and cheese, but I can't do olive oil or avocados. Sometimes the eggs get cooked in a non stick pan with some cooking spray depending on the fats in the next 2 meals. I've tried the enzymes, they didn't help me. And people don't understand how bad it is unless they share the lack of a gallbladder.

I've recently discovered that adding cream to my scrambled eggs is AMAZING! I call them velvet eggs. You can through in a bit spinach if you like but it's just amazing on it's own. Almost don't want to eat dinner I'm so full.

Fat is to be added for flavor and satiety. If you don't need the extra fat to be satisfied for 4-6 hours after the meal, don't eat it. Here's an article about how much fat to eat and it talks about this. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/how-much-fat

Im looking into doing the keto diet but also have LPR (Silent acid reflux) - Do you know if this diet is appropriate?
I've been told to avoid spicy, fried and fatty foods; citrus fruits; tomatoes; chocolate; peppermint; cheese; and garlic. Foods that contain caffeine, carbonated beverages and alcohol. I understand this diet seems to involve a lot of fat but wondering if there is way to make it work if it involves healthy fats.. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge on keto diet alongside LPR?

You can start with 1 serving and see how your hunger levels are. We do recommend eating to hunger, so if a bit more is needed, that's comepletely fine! The serving sizes can be adjusted as needed.

I'm confused. The calorie counts on the nutrition don't seems accurate. 2 eggs and a tablespoon of butter isn't 327 calories. It should be around 234. 2 eggs only have 4.8 grams of fat and a tablespoon of butter has 7 (roughly). So how is it that you guys put 31g of fat

Our nutritional information is based on the USDA National Nutrient Database. Also keep in mind that 1 ounce of butter is 2 tablespoons.
